Welcome to my website. I am very glad you found me!
About Me
Since I was a child, I dreamed of becoming a doctor. I started the path
to achieving this dream at the Central University of Venezuela in
Caracas, where I obtained my medical degree. My first year as a
doctor was spent working in rural areas of Venezuela.
This gave me the opportunity to practice preventive medicine as well as
to treat a variety of illnesses in both children and adults.
The following year I became an intern at Ricardo Baquero Gonzalez
Hospital in Caracas and had the opportunity to rotate through a number of
departments (Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Psychiatrics, Obstetric and
Gynecology, Surgery and Orthopedics) before specializing in Orthopedics.
After moving to Canada I obtained both a Diploma in Industrial Health
from the University of Toronto and a doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine
at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine.
In my practice, I combine my training in both conventional and natural
medicine to help my patients manage their health concerns using the individual strengths of these two approaches.
I treat illnesses using practices that address the whole person, taking
the time to understand my patients and encourage them to be actively
involved in their healing process.
In this way I can develop a comprehensive treatment plan that
supports the physical, mental and emotional needs of each patient.
As the patient's condition resolves, he/she
will experience dissolution of pain, discomfort and fear.
My goals are:
- to promote good health through physical, mental and spiritual awareness.
-
to identify the needs of each individual patient
-
to treat the whole patient not just the disease
-
to emphasize self-care
-
to work with the healing power of nature
Good health is not just the absence of symptoms but also to have
emotional balance, great energy and mental clarity.
Mind, body and
spirit all affect an individuals level of health and well-being. Healing
comes from connecting to our desires, honoring our intuition, resolving
conflicts and paying attention to that inner voice that guides
our life and actions day to day.
When the physiological and spiritual process are all in harmony, they create true health.
I help my patients to become aware of how thoughts and beliefs affect
their physical experience of health. Often our unconscious patterns of
behavior and unresolved issues inhibit us from fully living. I strive
to involve the person in their own journey to wellness.
Educating clients on making healthy choices and healthful balance in their life is very important to me.
For me Naturopathic Medicine is not just a career but a new way of life.
I am committed to my practice by updating myself: reading the
latest naturopathic and medical journals, and by attending many
continuing educational seminars.
I also give lectures on specific health- related issues across the Greater Toronto Area.
Each person’s journey towards optimal health is unique, the clue is to discover the human unlimited potential within
Education:

Why choose Dr. Comas?
Because in her practice she uses naturopathic medicine in conjunction
with her scientific knowledge of conventional medicine to increase
efficacy in her assessment and treatments. As well as to reduce
the side effects of some conventional medical treatments.
She examines the person’s medical and personal history and the
individual characteristics that make her/him unique. A program then is
developed according to that person’s lifestyle and individual needs;
addressing all aspects of a human being (physical, mental emotional and
spiritual). A combination of treatment methods will be brought into play
to help one achieve optimum health.
She understands the
mental-emotional-spiritual causes of physical symptoms and truly cares about her patients.
Treatment philosophy:
Treat the whole person not only the disease, meaning treat the cause
not just the apparent symptoms.
Enhance and expand the mind . When the
physiological and spiritual processes are in harmony, they create true
health.
Mind, body and spirit all affect an individual's level of health and
well-being.
I apply the philosophies of Naturopathic Medicine:
-
First do not harm
-
Nature has healing powers
-
Identify and treat the cause
-
Physician as a teacher
-
Prevention is the best cure
-
Treat the whole person
My practice:
In my practice I use a variety of diagnostic techniques beginning with
a comprehensive patient history, observation and interview. Besides
pulse and tongue diagnosis. I may do some lab test such as blood
cholesterol, glucose, urine analysis, hair analysis, allergy and stool
test to provide further insights.
I embrace the concept of biochemical individuality: the idea that
people are each physiologically unique and, as such, require treatment
specifically tailored to their own individual needs. I work to identify and treat the underlying cause
of illness, not just the apparent symptoms; treating illness with remedies and
practices that address the whole person.
I take the time to understand
my patients, integrating symptomatic treatment with preventative care.
I encourage patients to be actively involved in their healing process.
In this way I can develop a comprehensive treatment plan that support
the physical, mental, and emotional needs of each patient.
My treatment process:
I identify the needs of each individual patient, treat the whole
patient not just the disease, emphasize self-care and work with the
healing power of nature.
My approach is to enhance the cellular detoxification and the organic revitalization.
From
my studies of conventional and natural medicine I have considerable
knowledge to share and strive to make myself available to address any
concerns or questions you may have.
